Hello everyone, it's Toribird here!

Last year on October 2nd, Philadelphia experienced a tragic event in which over one thousand migrating birds died in a single night after colliding with buildings. In remembrance of this event, I will be leading a Woodlands birdwalk on October 8th at 7:30 am. I hope you will join me in appreciating the diversity of birds that pass through the city and in learning what has been and can be done to prevent further bird collisions.

The event will be one hour long, and we will spend much of our time searching for migrant birds such as warblers, swifts, and sparrows. I will also set aside about 15 minutes at the end to focus on what causes bird collisions and the steps everyone can take to prevent them. Guests will get to take home a handmade origami bird with simple reminders on bird-friendly actions!

Looking forward to seeing you at The Woodlands!
