Pest and Disease Workshop
at the POP Learning Orchard
Tuesday, June 9, 2026
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The Philadelphia Orchard Project (POP) is excited to host the POP Pest and Disease workshop at the POP Learning Orchard! Now that the orchard is 6 years old, we have many pest and disease issues to show for it. Come get an up close look!
This workshop aims to skill up participants in:
Identifying common orchard pest and diseases
Understanding management options for several common orchard pests and diseases.
We will work in small groups to complete a progressive monitoring walk throughout the orchard to observe, identify, and discuss how to manage different pest and disease issues. There will be demonstrations and hands-on practice of management techniques where possible!
An updated version of the POP Pest and Disease Guide will be made available for all participants. Check out last years version!

The site landscape is made up of two miles of paved roads, as well as brick paths, and grass.
The distance from the front gate to the event space is approximately 1/8 mile (about a 2-3 minute walk, uphill)
An ADA, gender-neutral restroom is located at the Stable.
The distance from the front gate to the Learning Orchard to the restroom is about 1/10 of a mile (about a 2 minute walk)
There is a gradual slope as you walk further into the Learning Orchard and Pine Grove Area. (towards the gate near Woodland Ave.)
There are grassy uneven areas throughout the Learning Orchard and Pine Grove that tend to make one stumble as they walk. We encourage flat, stable footwear.
