Everyone is welcome to explore the POP Learning Orchard and see what’s growing.
From the PQB organizers: Sometimes you get really busy and can only schedule a bird walk on a weekday at a really specific time that’s dictated by the rapidly decreasing fall daylight But we’re making it happen! Join us on Tuesday, October 20th from 4:45-6:15 pm at The Woodlands as we enjoy some cemetery birding, the crisp air of fall migration, and the best bunch of queer friends the city has to offer
Although our walk will have to start pretty promptly at 4:45 pm, you can still find us if you arrive late! When you enter the gate, turn left and follow the outer, paved path. We’ll be moving slowly as we look for warblers, kinglets, and sparrows! Bathrooms on the property will likely be closed, but you may be able to use bathrooms at surrounding businesses. There is plenty of parking in the cemetery, and The Woodlands is near plenty of public transit. We’ll have some binoculars to share, and you can also check some out at any library branch! We’re excited to get out there and see some birds with you!
Accessibility: Check out our Accessibility Information for details on entering the cemetery, navigating the landscape, restrooms, building access, and more.
The sidewalks outside The Woodlands are made from historic brick
The site landscape consists of 2 miles of paved roads, brick paths, and grass. There are curbs along the majority of the paved roads.
An ADA, gender-neutral restroom is located at the Stable (alongside three additional single-stall restrooms), about 1/4 mile from the front gate, and is open when staff are present, typically from 9 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday
There is no seating provided for this event. Please consider bringing a chair or blanket if desired.
Directions: The Woodlands is located at 4000 Woodland Avenue, directly across from the 40th Street Trolley Portal.
Parking: Please consider walking, biking, or taking public transit. Parking is available on the paved roads. Please park against the curb, leaving enough room for another vehicle to pass by.
Rules & Safety: In order for The Woodlands’ gates to continue to be opened daily, the site’s rules and safety guidelines must be followed at all times.
This event is hosted by the Philly Queer Birders (PQB) with The Woodlands functioning as the venue. If you have any questions about the event, please contact info@phillyqueerbirders.com. All events that take place at The Woodlands must receive written approval.
