PHILADELPHIA, PA — August 19, 2026 — The Woodlands Trust for Historic Preservation has been awarded a $459,375 grant from the William Penn Foundation to restore the historic gates and improve access, wayfinding, and visitor experience at The Woodlands. The three-year grant is part of the Foundation’s Environment and Public Space program.

Weitzman Preservation Students Repair Headstones at The Woodlands as an Introduction to Architectural Conservation
To kick off the 2025 fall semester, University of Pennsylvania Historic Preservation first-year students took on headstone restorations. They were accompanied by The Woodlands staff, along with Masonry Preservation Group, Inc. (MPG), Heritage Conservation Co., and Professors Kecia Fong, Roy Ingraffia, and Casey Weisdock.
